Maybe it’s not my weekend, but it’s gonna be my year. And I'm so sick of watching while the minutes pass as I go nowhere.

Well, apparently the faith I had in my ability to keep this blog updated was unwarranted. I have failed. I’m definitely going to make more of an effort from now on.

I’ve actually managed to make some progress on the novel recently which is a nice change. I’m still working out the kinks in the beginning of the story, but it’s getting there. Plus, I’ve also been working on research for the background of the story, etc. which has been really fun.

Have a great weekend. xoxo - Holly

Title: Weightless – All Time Low

Forgive my manner of speaking. I know it’s quick, but the clock is ticking.

So apparently I’m the procrastinating-est procrastinator ever (among my other title The Grinch Who Stole Whiteness – but we’ll talk about how pale I am some other time).

I have simply been subconsciously putting off writing for a while now. I just don’t feel that inspired lately.

If the weather allows, I’m going to bundle up the babe and go for a walk and see if anything comes to me.

Title: These Bones – Dashboard Confessional

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.

To begin, let me just say that my laptop could probably do with being looked at by a professional. It’s slow (despite spending almost a full 24 hours defragmenting it about 2 days ago), the audio output is shoddy and if I close it while it is still turned on, it turns itself off after a short period and won’t properly turn back on.

To be more specific, after pressing the power button, within 30 seconds it powers itself back off. This happens whether it is loading Windows, or in the middle of a start-up options menu.

This was becoming quite the dilemma for me because I didn’t think to backup the files I have for my book (although I’m going to get that done just as soon as I’m done posting this) and don’t currently have a printer, so the only copy I have is on this hard drive.

I have had this problem before, so I initially didn’t think too much of it. The only problem is that the more I tried to solve it, the more I began to realize that I absolutely couldn’t remember how I fixed the problem last time. Even searching on Google from my phone wasn’t able to help.

Eventually I did get it fixed with some very helpful texts and a call to my mom, who is on the other side of the country.

Long story short, if you find yourself in a similar situation, try doing what I did which worked wonders (instructions for laptops only!):

1. Unplug your laptop from the AC adapter.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

4. Plug the AC adapter back into your computer.

5. Press the power button.

6. After the computer starts to turn on, put the battery back in.

Hopefully if you find yourself in my situation, this will help you out too.

- Holly

P.S. Not too much to report on my writing progress, except since I started writing out the story by hand I have come up with some new ideas for wording the beginning of the first chapter. Yay!

Title: Fix You - Coldplay

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog, my name is Holly.
I created this blog because I am currently writing a novel that is tentatively entitled The Dark Sight. I intend for this to be a teen fiction novel in the fantasy/supernatural genre.

Probably my biggest inspirations for this story would be the numerous action/adventure movies I've watched over time as well as the recently released video game inFAMOUS.

I don't have a whole lot to say right at the moment, but I intend on keeping this updated as much as possible.

Have a good one.
